Cross-Curricular Objectives
To view the subject of Math in a different, more creative, light; thereby beginning to answer the question, "Why do we have to learn this Math stuff anyway?"
Make connections to the performing and visual arts (drama/art) standards, technology standards (video, audio, CD) and Language Arts standards (persuasive argument).

Project Overview
Your task is to work as a team to convince your peers that the subject of mathematics, specifically Geometry, is critical (important) and interesting. Each class will form their own team(s).
As a group, you must develop a convincing and/or humorous persuasive argument for knowing mathematics. This argument can be presented as a TV commercial, short movie, powerpoint presentation, play, song, etc.
At the end of the project, your commercials will be played for the school during 15 Minutes of Fame. The student body will be asked to vote for the most convincing advertisement. The winning team will win a special prize.

PROCESS
Follow the weekly process guide to ensure you complete the project correctly and in time.
Week 1
- Form a group of 1-4
- Brainstorm as a team about your favorite activities (sports, movies, Nintendo, music, etc...).
- Choose one activity, and decide how Geometry is relevant to that activity. Identify your theme for selling math. Get your advisor's approval for the theme and idea.
- Determine what type of presentation format will be used (video, music, computer, drama, speech)
- Individually research geometry to determine how it can be effectively incorporated into your chosen theme. There must be one Geometry concept, previously covered, incorporated from each individual in the final product
Week 2
- Decide exactly how to create a presentation within the framework (guidelines) of your chosen activity and identified mathematics that is clever, interesting and dynamic.
- Be very careful to not be "obvious" and "boring" about presenting mathematics; such as just knowing how to work with numbers (ie money). Mathematics is much more than this. Convince your audience that knowing Geometry is critical.
- Create the script for your presenatation and write the rough draft as a team. (check out the script links for ideas on script writing)
- Finalize the written script for the presentation; bold all areas that deal with mathematics and insert the name of individuals responsible for each piece of the mathematics.
- Suggestion: One individual takes responsibility for writing the script then e-mails the script to the other members for editing
- Complete a group project progression sheet.
Week 3 & 4
- Go over the final script as a team.
- Outline exactly how to prepare the script for presenting to the school.
- Complete the project. A video camera is available if you need it.
- Complete a group project progression sheet.
